Keep Going

Inspired by personal struggles and fourth-wall-breaking games like The Stanley Parable, Keep Going is a short, infinite runner-style game that primarily aims to drive a narrative about the struggle of complying with norms and gathering the courage to defy them.

While a portion of the gameplay is designed to be infinite, there is a finite ending available. Admittedly, the progression to the intended ending is highly likely to be missed. To ensure accessibility, below contains spoiler-sensitive instructions to progress the game to the ending.

[Spoiler] IF YOU CAN'T GET TO THE INTENDED ENDING Play the game until the screen is completely black-and-white and red texts pop up in the middle occasionally. Then, purposefully die to the dark smoke. After turning around, continue playing until you backtrack the same distance you traveled for the first half of the game to get to the intended ending.

Known Bug

There is a bug that softlocks the game if you die during the second portion of the game (sorry!). It appears in the form of a bright red wall with no enemies. If you still intend to get to the ending, I'm afraid the only solution in this version is to restart the game and from there, play through the game without dying. No matter what, I still appreciate you for playing up to this point!

Made for Acerola Jam 0, themed Aberration.

(Spoilers) The game is designed with aberration in mind in 2 places, primarily the story and secondarily the gameplay. The story is all about getting progressively overwhelmed by social norms and eventually coming to a peaceful acceptance of being an aberration against the norms. The gameplay employs an abnormal game flow (dying) to trigger the progression of the story.

Great concept and art! The shift in messaging was really effective. I don't know what you have planned for this beyond the Jam, but it would be a worthy project to expand.

My game, Norm's Face, though very different, is also a personal journey. It was nice to find this here. Cheers!

nice, this game play with my feelings
